HOUSTON, Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- CITGO Petroleum Corporation presented a donation to the Southern University Marching Band during the university's homecoming game, in which the Jaguars faced Arkansas-Pine Bluff this past weekend in Baton Rouge, La.
"At CITGO, our support of education is one of the pillars of our corporate social responsibility efforts and a way in which we help strengthen the communities where we have a presence and beyond," said Rafael Gomez, vice president of Government and Public Affairs for CITGO. The donation to the internationally acclaimed band, better known as "The Human Jukebox," will help in the purchase of new instruments.
The band recently performed at a CITGO-sponsored event, marking the 9th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. It prides itself in its unique ability to execute precision drills better than any other marching ensemble in the country.
