CITGO and local Marketer Flash Oil recently recognized Youth Home, Inc. of Little Rock, Ark. as a 2012 Winter Fueling Good winner. Offering programs for children between the ages of 12 and 17 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, social and academic problems, Youth Home received $5,000 in CITGO Gift Cards to help extend its services and provide more children and families the assistance they need.
"Our intensive residential treatment program reaches adolescents and families throughout Arkansas. Many of the families with family members in our care do not have the means to drive to central Arkansas for those important family sessions," said Chrissy Chatham, development director at Youth Home, Inc. "The donation of CITGO Gift Cards will allow us to ease the burden on families and enable more family sessions for the children in our care. This generous gift represents 24,000 miles driven by families who are working to improve their lives."
Led by a team of dedicated mental health professionals, Youth Home strives to provide adolescents and their families the chance for a better life. Each year, Youth Home serves approximately 1,600 children and families across the state. In addition to the individual, family, group, educational, recreational and specialized therapies it offers, Youth Home has an on-site special education school, fully approved by the Arkansas Department of Education for grades 7 through 12.
"We feel so lucky to work with an organization with such a far reaching impact," said Jamie Patterson, president of Flash Oil. "When we see winners like Youth Home, we are reminded of the power and importance of human interaction and support. We are truly honored to be connected to such a wonderful organization."
Dwayne Jones of J&P Markets echoed this sentiment, saying "It's rewarding to work with folks who are one hundred percent behind the work they do. I believe that the 24,000 miles worth of gasoline will go a long way for Youth Home."
The principles of Fueling Good can be seen in all aspects of the CITGO brand. In fact, since the launch of the program in 2009 CITGO has fueled more than a million miles of good through its support of local heroes like Youth Home. During the most recent campaign, nearly 1,700 charities entered and nearly 151,000 votes were cast to help determine the current round of Fueling Good winners.
Registration for the next Fueling Good program will open for all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations within the CITGO marketing area on Sept. 4, 2012.
