On December 9th, starting at 5:00pm at Piers 81 and 83, the cruise lines will have the Hudson River's first annual Lighting of the Ships, a holiday-themed event consisting of a grand lighting ceremony and two specialty boat cruises for local non-profits. For one night only, the Hudson River will be aglow with the festive parade of New York Cruise Line ships, lit with over 5,000 feet of holiday lights and led, of course, by a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer decorated tugboat.
Members of the public can attend the inspirational, festive, and entirely free dock-side portion of the evening, while they enjoy holiday carolers, hot chocolate, and of course a grand entrance and photo opportunities with Santa Claus. The visual spectacle of the lighting will take place promptly at 5:45pm.
Circle Line will be hosting a holiday party for the non-profit Room to Grow, a local organization dedicated to supporting families and enriching the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. World Yacht will be hosting an evening for Friends of Hudson River Park; a non-profit organization dedicated to the completion, care, and enhancement of the Hudson River Park
In addition to the "Holidays on the Hudson: Lighting of the Ships & Boat Parade," both World Yacht and Circle Line are providing a season full of holiday events for friends, families, and coworkers. World Yacht's luxurious three hour dinner cruise will include festive holiday décor and lights, holiday music and the new winter menu, perfect for family gatherings or company events.
Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises offers one of the best ways to see the holiday lights of the NYC skyline this season. With magnificent views that can only be experienced on the river, Circle Line provides the grandeur of midtown and lower Manhattan in a climate controlled space which will be brightly decorated for the season.
Circle Line and World Yacht are also once again hosting their extremely popular New Year's Eve Cruises. While the indulgent 5-course dinner cruise aboard World Yacht is already sold out, Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise is offering one of the best ways to ring in 2014 this year. Boarding at 9:00pm on New Year's Eve, Circle Line will sail from 10:00pm-1:00am and offer a full open bar, hors d' oeuvres, non-stop DJ, party favors, a champagne toast at midnight, and the best possible view of the New Year's Eve Fireworks at the Statue of Liberty.
"At Circle Line and World Yacht we are always creating and recreating the most exciting and festive events that visitors and New Yorkers alike will enjoy," stated Chief Marketing Officer Jason Hackett. "With our entire holiday schedule and the announcement of our newest event on December 9th, we hope to bring all our guests together to celebrate the holidays with the majestic skyline of New York City serving as the backdrop."
