DALLAS, Dec. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cinergy Entertainment Group is excited to announce results from the canned food drive benefiting West Texas Food Bank and Food Care Center, Inc. in Killeen, TX. With efforts from the community, Cinergy locations combined to raise over 1 ton of food. Guests were encouraged to bring 2 canned food items in exchange for a $5 game card or small popcorn during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Cinergy Entertainment in Copperas Cove raised 891 pounds of food which equates to providing 25 families with meals for 10 days. In a statement to Cinergy, Executive Director of Food Care Center, Inc. Raymond Cockrell stated, "Thanks so much for the blessing!! Support from companies like Cinergy has allowed for us to 'stand in the gap' with those who are hungry in our community for the last 36 years."
The Odessa and Midland locations received 1,735 pounds of food which was donated to the West Texas Food Bank. "Partnerships with companies like Cinergy are important because it raises awareness about the issue of hunger in West Texas," said West Texas Food Bank Executive Director Libby Campbell. "We are always looking for ways to get our communities involved, and during the holidays people are already going to the movies. The Cinergy food drive collected 1,735 pounds of food, which equals 1,446 meals."
