LOS ANGELES, July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cindy Belcher has been promoted to chief operating officer of the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP). She assumes a role that is new for the organization after having served most recently as senior vice president of Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
Ms. Belcher's promotion coincides with the announcement by CEO James L. Weidner that, after 20 years at the helm of the organization, he will retire effective March 1, 2015.

Ms. Belcher joined CAP in 1999 and has served in numerous roles of increasing responsibility, including senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development, vice president of membership, and director of marketing/customer relations; overseeing the organization's underwriting, business development, membership services, and membership development functions. She retains her position as COO of the Cooperative of American Physicians Insurance Company, Inc., a Hawaii-domiciled subsidiary of CAP that is rated A- (Stable) by A.M. Best. Additionally, she is a Board Director for City of Hope's National Insurance Industry Council, which honored her in 2008 with its William R. Story Award for Leadership and Professionalism.
