Chu Brothers of Mission Hills China Achieve Global Recognition for "Golf And More" Strategy
Dr. Ken Chu Inducted into Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame
SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr Ken Chu, Chairman and CEO of the Mission Hills Group in China and his brother Tenniel, the Group's Vice-Chairman, have retained their number one ranking as the most powerful people in the Asian golf industry, according to Golf Inc. magazine. Ken Chu was also inducted into the Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame at the recent 2016 Asian Golf Awards. He is also the youngest receiver of this award.
The Golf Inc. ranking is compiled by its editors around the world and considers each person's impact on golf course management, education and training, environmental sustainability, financial sustainability, golf course development and promotion of golf, as well as other factors. As reported by the American publication, "the Chu brothers have obtained traction in Asia for pursuing a strategy of "Golf and More" to develop recreational facilities that compliment golf and attract a broader audience." Ken and Tenniel Chu retained their ranking as the most powerful people in the Asian golf industry for the fourth successive year.
Golf Inc.'s recognition of the Chu family demonstrates China's increasingly crucial role in the global golf industry. Mr. Ken Chu received the 2016 Asian Golf Awards in Hua Hin, Thailand. The success of the "Golf and More" strategy and Ken Chu's receival of the Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame Award can both be attributed to the continued growth of Mission Hills.
"What I'm doing is trying to change the forefront of the game and to keep a tie in golf with not just lifestyle but also world-class leisure and entertainment developments," explained Ken Chu at the glittering ceremony. "I am establishing Mission Hills as an exciting destination for golfers and an attractive leisure hub for multi-generational families.
He continued: "I want to make golf an entertainment, sport and lifestyle for the whole family because I see the value and importance of spending time with your loved ones. Receiving this award is the recognition that I'm on the right track!"
Ken Chu also received a number of other Asian Golf Awards at the prestigious ceremony, including the Best Clubhouse in Asia-Pacific and the Best Pro-Shop in Asia Pacific both for the success of Mission Hills Haikou on the tropical Chinese island of Hainan.
Tenniel Chu commented: "At Mission Hills we are trying to transform the game of golf in China, from a business tool to a lifestyle. To receive recognition for our efforts from within the industry, both in Asia and around the world, can keep us be motivated and continue popularizing the game of golf in China, which will undoubtedly house the largest number of golfers in the world within the next decade or so."
