Christiansen Davis, LLC Amends Lawsuit against Chaz Dean, WEN Hair Products and Guthy-Renker to now include 200 Individual Consumers Injured by their products
DALLAS, Sept. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The law firm of Christiansen Davis, LLC has added many new plaintiffs to a California federal court lawsuit against hair stylist Chaz Dean and infomercial giant Guthy-Renker, bringing the total number of consumers to 200 who have suffered extreme hair loss and other injuries caused by their Wen Hair Products.
As described in the complaint, the products are designed, manufactured and sold by Chaz Dean, the self-purported hair stylist to Hollywood's Who's Who, and Guthy-Renker, the direct marketing giant behind Proactiv and other beauty care products. The companies have marketed the products heavily, using nearly round-the-clock infomercials and television advertising with celebrity testimonials, the Internet and popular beauty magazines.
The companies claim the products drastically improve the health and appearance of hair in just one use. As explained in the complaint, the companies also claim that regular shampoos damage the hair. They instead encourage consumers to use large quantities of the WEN products, describing them as "gentle enough to use every day" and claiming, "You can never use too much! The more you use, the better the results."
In fact, as detailed in the Complaint, the products cause severe and possibly permanent damage to hair, including hair loss to the point of visible bald spots, severe hair breakage, scalp irritation and rash--even infection. The amended complaint, which can be obtained on the CD website at www.cdfirm.com, includes photos of injuries linked to use of the products.
Rather than share information that could have helped injured consumers, Christiansen Davis, LLC understands that the companies denied having received any other complaints when many of the women called for help. As explained in the Complaint, the companies also apparently removed negative online reviews about the products that might have warned these 200 unsuspecting consumers and helped them avoid their injuries.
Attorney Amy E. Davis, lead counsel for the victims, says that the companies have continued to relentlessly market the products, but now as the "new WEN" although there is no obvious change in the formulas.
At this time, the complaint includes 200 men and women residing in nearly every state of the U.S. and one claimant from Canada. Davis expects more will be added, as the firm is being contacted by more victims on a daily basis.
