WASHINGTON, Sept. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's Hardball will share his new book, Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit, at a National Press Club Headliners book event on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the club's conference rooms.
Publisher Simon & Schuster describes Matthews' latest book as "a revealing portrait of Robert F. Kennedy that gets closer to the man than any book before. Drawing on extensive research and interviews, Matthews pulls back the curtain on the public and private worlds of RFK and shines a light on all the important moments of his life."
This is not Matthews' first book about the Kennedys. In 2011, he authored a bestselling biography about the 35th President entitled, Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero.
A long-time follower and student of American politics, Matthews got his start in Washington as an officer with the U.S. Capitol Police. He climbed the political ladder writing speeches for President Carter and later working as top aide to Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, Jr. At the tail-end of the 1980s, Matthews became a full-time journalist, covering the same politicians he once worked for as the Washington Bureau Chief for The San Francisco Examiner. In 1997, Matthews launched the talk show Hardball, a title derived from a book he wrote about politics a decade earlier. Now in its 20th season on the air, Matthews continues to host the weekday program on MSNBC.
This event will feature a discussion with the author, an audience question-and-answer session, and a book signing. Tickets are $5 for National Press Club members and $10 for the general public. Proceeds from this event benefit the non-profit affiliate of the Club, the National Press Club Journalism Institute, which offers innovative, practical training to journalists and communications professionals working in a rapidly-changing media environment.
