Previously, Mr. Henderson served as Senior Advisor to Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, where he led the department's successful execution of its $3 billion Recovery Act program. The program represents a historic investment in essential maintenance and improvements of infrastructure and facilities across Interior's 500 million acres of public lands. Under Mr. Henderson's leadership, the 4,000 project program was delivered in less than half the time historically required with no significant instances of unworthy projects or cost overruns. Mr. Henderson also played a leading role in the successful reorganization of the former Minerals Management Service following the Gulf Oil Spill, improving oversight of offshore energy development and collection of over $10 billion in energy royalties annually.
Prior to joining the Department of the Interior, Mr. Henderson served as the Chief Operating Officer for Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, where he worked to improve the city's strategic planning and performance management efforts, as well as carried out a number of successful organizational initiatives to improve efficiency and service levels.
Mr. Henderson joined the Hickenlooper Administration following a 15-year career in investment banking and private equity investing. The last 13 years of that career were spent with Vestar Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm with more than $7 billion under management. At Vestar, he served as a managing director and member of the firm's investment committee. Prior to joining Vestar, he spent two years with the investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group.
"I am excited to join ASI's board. The company has a sterling reputation marked by their dedication and innovation in helping agencies achieve mission success despite budgetary challenges. I look forward to continuing to support efforts to help our government address critical management and execution challenges in this new role," shared Mr. Henderson.
Kymm McCabe, ASI President and CEO, commented: "Our clients are facing enormous challenges, balancing the expanding needs of their mission against contracting budgets. Chris' experience leading DOI's economic recovery program and financial and management expertise will provide a critical perspective as we continue to help agencies derive maximum value out of every tax dollar."
Added Anne Reed, ASI's Chairman of the Board, "Given his strong financial background and experience in government leadership positions, Chris' insights will be invaluable as we continue to deliver client experiences that are unexpected by design. I look forward to working with him and the rest of our distinguished board members in my new role as Chairman."
