Chris Halkyard Joins Rent the Runway as Chief Logistics Officer
NEW YORK, June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rent the Runway (www.renttherunway.com), which is revolutionizing fashion by allowing millions of women to rent designer clothing and accessories, announces the hiring of Chris Halkyard as the company's first Chief Logistics Officer, effective August 1, 2015. In his role, Halkyard will oversee Rent the Runway's groundbreaking logistics platform, including the company's proprietary reverse-logistics operations and transportation network.
Rent the Runway's unique model requires "just-in-time" reverse logistics and a vertically integrated operations system. In this role, Halkyard will be tasked with optimizing the proprietary systems that give Rent the Runway its competitive advantage. Given his more than 25 years of experience with supply chain management and distribution, Halkyard will focus on developing a strategy for a more innovative and sophisticated transportation network. Halkyard's expertise will be paramount in scaling Rent the Runway's logistics system and distribution center as the company's customer base and offerings continue to grow.

Halkyard joins Rent the Runway from Gilt where he most recently served as Chief Supply Chain Officer and General Manager of Distribution Services. Before Gilt, Halkyard held a range of logistics roles at Marc Ecko, L'Occitane, FAO Schwarz, and the May Department Stores (now Macy's). He graduated from the University of Maryland and was a logistics specialist in the United States Air Force. He currently sits on the board of Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey.
