Elite Pro IRONMAN and Former Olympic Competitors Are Powered by Polar Smart Coaching; Potts Has Eye on Kona World Championships; Haskins Has Four Pro Wins Since Welcoming Daughter
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Polar (www.polar.com), the leader in heart rate monitoring and sports performance technologies, announced a partnership with two of the world's premiere triathletes, Andy Potts and Sarah Haskins.
As the number one triathlete in the United States and a former Olympian, Andy Potts, 37, recently won the 2014 Ironman 70.3 New Orleans and was named 2014 Ironman 70.3 US Pro Champion at 2014 Ironman 70.3 St. George. Sarah Haskins, 33, transitioned from a dedicated elementary school teacher to champion triathlete 10 years ago, and has competed as an Olympian and in World Championships. She has also won notable national and international triathlon competitions.
Potts and Haskins train and race with the Polar V800, the smartest and most advanced training computer, designed for many sports. The Polar V800 features integrated GPS and 24/7 activity tracking with customizable multisport profiles, which makes it ideal for both professional and devoted recreational athletes who want to reach peak performance. The Polar V800 will be available for sale this summer.
"My Polar V800 keeps a pulse on every workout and critical moments during races and recovery. The smart coaching data I get from it tells me how to be a smarter and faster athlete," said Potts. "The fans also love to see our 'By the Numbers' Race Report to get our splits and see our average heart rate during each portion of the events."
As part of this partnership, Polar is the official sponsor of the Andy Potts and Sarah Haskins Post-Race "By the Numbers" report, which gives fans insight into the athletes' performance and times. Potts and Haskins will also share customized training plans and tips for the Polar community, as well as thoughts on their favorite Polar training technology. The athletes will host special Polar product giveaways for their fans and make select appearances across the country.
"It makes sense that the world's most advanced endurance athletes rely on the world's most sophisticated training technology," said Herb Baer, Polar USA President. "We're proud to partner with Andy and Sarah, some of the best global ambassadors for the growing sport of triathlon, and we're confident that their strides will inspire others to reach their goals."
"This is an exciting race season for me, especially because I'm coming off one of my most demanding yet rewarding accomplishments, welcoming my first daughter," said Haskins. "Tracking my heart rate during training has helped me come back stronger and fitter than ever, and ensures that I'm getting the most out of every workout. I love how this one tool lets me see how many steps I've taken being active with my daughter – and whether my transition times between sports are improving."
