Chongqing Sets World Record with 101 Drones
CHONGQING, China, Sept. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 3rd, well-known Chinese pianist Li Yundi, together with 101 drones, set a new world record for a UAV performance in his hometown of Chongqing, a city in western China, garnering a great deal of attention from around the world. The world's first Drone Music Festival was held in Chongqing, attracting 19,000 spectators and 100 internet celebrities who broadcast the event live online to millions of fans worldwide. The epic music festival gave the world a chance to appreciate an event that quickly become the pride of the city and its residents.
On the evening of the same day, ten symbols that are quickly recognized across China as icons of Chongqing, including several of the city's landmarks, the reputation for its beautiful women, well-known local celebrities and the famous local spicy noodles, were all incorporated into the event. Chongqing Wanda Cultural Tourism City, which has already gained recognition as one of the city's ten icons despite the fact that the complex is still under construction, also made a stunning debut at the festival.
According to a source close to the situation, the organizer, Wanda Cultural Tourism City, aims to showcase what Chongqing is proud of to the world through the event. Located in Xiyong, Shapingba, Western New City, Chongqing Wanda Cultural Tourism City is the world's 12th Wanda Cultural Tourism City, with the ultimate goal of creating a world-class cultural tourism destination. The 55 billion yuan project consists of a vast Wanda Mall, a large outdoor theme park, several venues capable of hosting top stage shows, luxury hotels, a bar- and pub-lined promenade and a new tourism city. Upon completion, the project is expected to attract more than 20 million tourists annually, helping promote the image of Chongqing and elevate the city's allure as a must-see tourism destination based on the richness of the area's cultural artifacts.
The event featured Chuanjiang Haozi, a form of folk singing which embodies the earthy and hospitable spirit of the people of Chongqing, a 3D interactive performance, a music show by Chongqing's world-class pianist Li Yundi, singing by renowned Chinese band Chongqing Children, announcement of the results of "The top ten icons that are the pride of Chongqing" and the Guinness world record set by Wanda Cultural Tourism City's world-first flight array performance consisting of 101 drones. All these events culminated to showcase to the world the pride that the people of Chongqing feel about their city.
