COLUMBIA, Md., May 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Chiron Technology Services, Inc. has incorporated a new dedicated commercial learning and consultative services entity focusing on developing individuals in Information Security Operations Tradecraft. This will include a new virtual learning environment that will expand Chiron's existing assessment, evaluation, and validation programs to ensure Information Security Operators are mission ready in the specific role they are assigned. To scale for global market reach, the Chiron commercial platform has integrated its mobile server capability, which has a successful performance of record training over 10,000 operators within the US Department of Defense for the past 6 years, into a cloud based solution allowing Chiron to deliver classes in an asynchronous and live virtual instructor lead format. This will expand Chiron's partner program to remotely host Chiron Live Instructor Led training services at any location globally to reduce the operational and logistical strain of shipping equipment, set up, and storage at a training facility. The first set of asynchronous classes are set to launch on May 22, 2017.
Over the past few years, Chiron has consulted with many large private sector organizations who have been inquiring on methods to develop security teams with the same domain skills and abilities as the US Department of Defense (DoD) Information Operation Teams, opposed to the larger well known DoD Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Directive, 8570.1M, which is driven primarily on industry certifications. Many of these organizations are trying to recruit these highly trained operators, which is not feasible in the long term for the larger pipeline of qualified professionals needed to protect and defend their organizations networks and assets. Throughout this discovery phase, the Chiron Team, led by Chad Carroll, Chiron's Chief Strategy Officer and former standards and evaluations lead for US Air Force Cyber teams, identified major differences with the current commercial model for training and certifying a security professional. "There is more to the evaluation process than pass-fail criteria. We are building a system that not only measures and evaluates the proficiency of an individual, but the entire body of work and technical acumen of an operator," said Carroll. Carroll continued, "Tradecraft maturation also includes the critical thinking skills, the aptitude to identify and work through difficult problems, and ability to adapt to the evolving, and in many cases unknown, threats when combating a highly trained and experienced adversary,"
