November 8^th will be a critical day for the cannabis industry, as five states, including California, will hold referendums on whether or not to legalize recreational marijuana. Four other states, including Florida, will vote whether or not to legalize medical marijuana. According to a report from Cowen & Co, the legal cannabis industry in the U.S. is expected to be worth $50 billion by 2026, expanding to more than eight times its current size, as the legal market will gain new consumers and former illicit users. Legalization of recreational marijuana use in California, where cannabis is already medically permitted, would triple the size of the nation's current $6 billion legal industry.
