LONDON, July 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Online sports lottery, Bodog, say they expect the world record price for an item of Chinese porcelain to be broken BEFORE the end of 2014.
The sports lottery have unveiled odds after a tiny porcelain cup, dating back to the Ming Dynasty, fetched $36m (£21.5m) at recent auction in Hong Kong.
FCBodog.com suggest odds of 4-6 that figure will be broken BEFORE January 31, 2014 or you can get 11-10 that the record will be broken AFTER that date.
The 500-year-old "chicken cup", so-called because it is decorated with a rooster and hen tending to their chicks, was bought by a Shanghai collector.
Auction house Sotheby's said the previous record for Chinese porcelain was set in 2010 when a vase sold for $32.4m (£19.3m).
Josh Willis from Bodog commented: "This exciting record proves that there is a real appetite for Chinese porcelain, particularly among the China market. We would not be surprised to see things hot up this year and our odds show that."
