Chinese Culture Will Be On Full Display at Mets, Padres Game This August
NEW YORK, July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Throughout time and history, sports has succeeded in uniting people of various backgrounds and dissolving language and cultural differences. This year's "An Evening of Chinese Culture" - hosted by the Sino-American Friendship Association and co-hosted by the Sino-American Culture and Arts Foundation (SACAF), the China National Tourist Office (CNTO), and the New York Mets, with support from the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area Management Committee, promises to do just that.
The 9th Annual "An Evening of Chinese Culture" aims to utilize sports and entertainment to unite and synergize the interconnectivity between American and Chinese communities within New York and across the world. This exciting event will be held in concert with the New York Mets and San Diego Padres baseball game at Citi Field in New York - 126th Street & Roosevelt Avenue, Flushing, NY 11368 on August 12, 2016 at 7 P.M EST.
Every year, "An Evening of Chinese Culture" showcases various cities and aspects of China's diverse culture. This year's theme will represent the 2016 U.S.- China Tourism Year, and will showcase the culture of the western Chinese city of Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area in Sichuan Province, China. At 71 meters high, the Giant Buddha of Leshan is the largest stone Buddha in the world and the only UNESCO World Natural and Culture heritage site in west China.
Throughout the night, the Leshan Chinese Culture showcase will be unveiled with live traditional performances that will also be broadcasted throughout the stadium on televised LED screens. Gifts and info represent Leshan Giant Buddha will be distributed to fans onsite.
Since its inception in 2009, "An Evening of Chinese Culture" has been the most influential and largest Chinese cultural celebration on the east coast of the U.S. It has been a great success, with a full audience of over 40,000 Chinese and Americans and with the participation of multiple organizations in NY, NJ, CT and PA.
By hosting this cultural sporting event, the Sino-American Friendship Association will provide a unique opportunity not only to enjoy an exciting baseball game but also to experience a multi-cultural extravaganza.
