Chinatown Celebrates "Year of the Rooster" With a Parade and Festival
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
What: The LA Chinatown BID invites you to join Chinatown's 118th annual Golden Dragon Parade to welcome the "Year of the Rooster" with firecrackers, dragon dancers, floats, bands, and more. A free festival takes place concurrently with acrobats, martial artists, artisans and cooking demonstrations.
Who: The 2017 Miss Chinatown Queen and Court, monks, Lion dancers, dignitaries, the heads of Chinatown family associations, and many others from the Chinese community.
Why: Chinese New Year is the most important family holiday of the year in the Chinese culture. (Rooster years are 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017.)
