China's premier electronics design show IIC-China opens today in Shenzhen with new product announcements and close to 100 presentations given by global technology leaders over four days
Event focuses on what is critical for future electronics innovation: IoT, wearable, smartphone, power, EDA, automotive, industrial and medical electronics design technologies, and more
SHENZHEN, China, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL) announced that the 19th IIC-China opens today at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China's major electronics design and manufacturing center. The event runs through Friday, Sept. 5 and is held concurrently with the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE), the world's largest optoelectronics event.
Brandon Smith, President of Global Sources' joint venture eMedia Asia Limited, said: "We are a media company that brings the latest technology and market information to China's electronics industry community to help them innovate and succeed. IIC's multi-track conferences, exciting live demo and dynamic show floor are all designed with this objective in mind. It is the event for any engineer who wants to stay current with the hottest design trends, cutting-edge solutions and the latest industry developments."
Technology vendors use IIC as a platform to introduce new products in the China market in addition to promoting existing solutions. For example, Silicon Labs today introduced two economical, easy-to-use development kits at their booth in the Internet of Things (IoT) & Wearable Zone. These kits are intended to accelerate the design of environmental and biometric sensing applications for a wide range of IoT products.
The four-day event also features close to 100 technical presentations, including eight specially-designed conference tracks:
- IoT Technology & Applications
- Wearable Electronics
- Smartphone & Tablet PC
- Automotive Electronics
- Power Management & Power Semiconductors
- Bluetooth Technology & Applications
- Industrial Control & Medical Electronics
- DesignCon China (IC & PCB Design)
Speakers at these conferences are experts from technology leaders such as ADI, Broadcom, Freescale Semiconductor, Marvell Technology, NXP Semiconductors, Qualcomm and Toshiba. In addition, Texas Instruments' four-day technical program covers topics ranging from power to sensor technologies, and from automotive to IoT solutions. Visitors can also attend Technical Application Courses (TAC) taught by Edadoc, TriQuint Semiconductor and other key companies in the industry.
Working with industry associations to inspire innovation
To create ever richer content for China's engineers, IIC is working closely with several industry associations this year.
At the new Robotics Pavilion, the Shenzhen Robotics Association (SRA) is demonstrating new industrial and service robots designed by its member companies, which represent the latest in robotics R&D in China. The SRA is also running talks throughout the event to share insights in robotics design.
Members of the Shenzhen Computer Industry Association, including the Cloud Computing Center of Great Wall Computer and Shenzhen Hop Industrial, creator of the HOPU smart watches, are showcasing their innovative product development achievements on the show floor. Technical experts are at hand to share their experience and knowledge with fellow engineers.
IIC is also cooperating with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group to bring the latest developments in this important wireless technology to China.
With the wearable market heating up, as well as the expected exponential growth brought forth by the IoT, IIC has launched the "IoT & Wearable Zone". Exhibitors include Atmel, Intel, Red Bend Software, Silicon Labs and TE Connectivity, all major suppliers of enabling technologies in these fields.
IIC exhibitors also include other multinational IC suppliers and distributors such as Dialog Semiconductor, Mouser Electronics, and O2Micro; Taiwan vendors such as Amazing Microelectronic, AMICCOM, and Lite-On Semiconductor; mainland semiconductor companies like BYD Electronics, Chipsea Technologies, DIOO Microcircuits and SGMICRO; and leading EDA and test companies, including Cadence Design Systems, Keysight, R&S and Teledyne LeCroy.
"Face-to-face interaction plays an important role in inspiring innovative designs and new ideas in the electronics industry. IIC will continue to bring the world's latest IC technologies and applications to China engineers, in the formats most conducive to an open exchange of ideas," added Smith.
Attendance at IIC is free for industry professionals. For more show information, please visit http://www.english.iic-china.com.
