Focusing on content that matters to engineers
"In December 2012, we polled our community and found that more than 50 percent of engineers in China attend only one to two industry events in a year. More than 55 percent of engineers attend events expecting to see new technology. More than 65 percent attend to access industry opportunities, and 55 percent said they attend for professional development," said Brandon Smith, President of Global Sources' joint venture eMedia Asia Limited. "Their content needs are specific and we build IIC-China to answer those needs.
"IIC-China's exciting keynotes, multi-track conferences, live teardowns and dynamic show floor are all designed to do just that. It is the event for any engineer who wants to keep abreast of future design trends, hot solutions and the latest market developments. There is no doubt that China's electronics design capabilities are growing in leaps and bounds, and our goal for IIC-China is to equip engineers so that they can come up with ever more innovative and successful products."
This year's IIC-China conference series is themed "Smart Technologies. Smart World." and features tracks on Smartphone & Tablet Design, Power, Connectivity, Smart Home & Surveillance, Test & Measurement, and IC Industry Supply Chain. Speakers are all experts from technology leaders such as Agilent, Cadence, Fairchild, Marvell and Micron. Visitors can also attend Technical Application Courses (TAC) taught by Micrel, Silicon Labs, TriQuint and other key semiconductor companies.
Visitors attending two or more conferences and TAC sessions will receive a special certificate jointly presented by IIC-China and the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
Live teardowns for hottest gadgets
The three-day event also features live product teardowns of new popular Smartphones (Galaxy Note II and iPhone 5) and tablet PCs (iPad mini and Google Nexus 7). "This is the first time these product teardowns are performed live in China," Smith added. "This year, we are partnering with UBM TechInsights to leverage its extensive experience in teardowns and semiconductor analysis. This new partnership adds even more technology depth to this event, and brings significant value to engineers in attendance.
"On the show floor, leading international and local semiconductor suppliers and distributors such as BYD Microelectronics, Micrel, Micron, Mouser, Silicon Labs and TriQuint will showcase their exciting solutions and products. Visitors will also find new technologies on display at the Taiwan Pavilion, Korea Pavilion, China IC Design House Zone and Distributor Zone.
"IIC-China brings the world's latest IC products and technologies to the doorstep of China's design engineers. This is the 18th year of the show, and each year has been exciting. I believe face-to-face interaction plays an important role in inspiring innovative designs and new ideas in China," Smith concluded.
