China's Midea at the Vanguard of a Smart Kitchen Revolution
SHANGHAI, Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As modern technology evolves, intelligent devices are now part and parcel of all aspects of daily life. In the kitchen appliance field, Midea Kitchen Appliances Division, a subsidiary of China's household appliance leader Midea Group, is leading the next wave of a smart kitchen revolution.
Midea Kitchen Appliances Division will showcase its new S-Fashion Intelligent Built-in Kitchen Appliances Series at China International Kitchen and Bathroom Expo 2016 (CIKB 2016) to be held in Shanghai on October 21. The new series includes built-in microwave ovens, countertop ovens and steamers. The intelligent technology that comes with these units is one of the main features that differentiate the series from traditional kitchen appliances: a one-button control that can be accessed from a mobile app allows users to control the cooking process taking place in the kitchen while watching TV in the living room; the same app provides users with easy access to some 100 recipes updated continuously in the cloud, making cooking easier.
The head of the Midea Kitchen Appliances Division said that through upgrades to the mobile app and partnerships with e-commerce platforms, users can benefit from the home delivery of ingredients recommended by intelligent cloud-based recipes with the click of one button on their smartphones, unleashing the infinite possibilities the synergy of intelligent technologies and the internet offer the kitchen.
The launch of the new S-Fashion Intelligent Built-in Kitchen Appliances Series is just one testament to how Midea Kitchen Appliances Division is revolutionizing the smart kitchen. At the IFA Berlin held in September 2016, the intelligent steam cleaning technology used in the Midea Tianmu Range Hoods and the Dinghuo high-efficiency combustion technology powering the Midea Dinghuo Gas Stove won the Innovative Technology of the Year award. In addition, Midea's intelligent robot vacuum cleaner was recognized with the Innovative Product of the Year, showcasing China's abilities in rolling out world-class kitchen appliances. In light of the expectation that the smart household appliances market will continue to mature, Midea Kitchen Appliances Division is committed to building an intelligent kitchen appliance ecosystem, as part of the division's mission to transform the traditional kitchen in every home into a smart one.
Meanwhile, Midea Kitchen Appliances Division is also building its global research and development system and expanding its footprint in international markets, which, Midea expects, will further accelerate the adoption of smart, integrated kitchens all over the world. The company has built R&D facilities in the US and Italy and plans to expand its R&D capabilities in Japan and Germany in the near future. Midea's smart kitchen appliance products are now being sold in over 140 countries on five continents, including Japan, the UK, the US, South Africa and Australia.
Chinese household appliance makers, with Midea taking the lead, are growing rapidly and making their contribution to the transformation from "made in China" to "Intelligent Manufacturing in China", by focusing on user experience-oriented innovative technologies. The launch of the new and upgraded S-Fashion series is a further demonstration of how scenario-based user experience designs are being applied to intelligent devices.
