China TransInfo to Serve as Director-General of Zhongguancun Intelligent Transportation Industry Association
BEIJING, April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China TransInfo Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: CTFO) ("China TransInfo" or the "Company"), a leading provider of comprehensive intelligent transportation solutions and traffic information services in China through its affiliate, China TransInfo Technology Group Co., Ltd. (the "Group Company"), today announced that the Company has been recommended and serves as the Director-General of the Zhongguancun Intelligent Transportation Industry Association ("ZITIA" or the "Association"), which the Company played a key role in helping establish on April 13th, 2011.
ZITIA's current members include 36 corporations, nine research institutes, one financial organization and five universities. The objective of the Association is to help cultivate the intelligent transportation industry's development and position Beijing as the industry leading region in China for the intelligent transportation industry. ZITIA plans to promote pilot projects related commercial vehicle applications; accelerate core research and development and technology initiatives as well as improve members' R&D capabilities and branding; and to address the significant traffic problems in the Beijing region.
Mr. Gou Zhongwen, the Deputy Mayor of Beijing, attended the Association's launch ceremony. At the ceremony he expressed his appreciation regarding the establishment of ZITIA and his expectation that the Association could succeed in its efforts to address the significant traffic issues in Beijing.
