CNOOC sought to set up a sophisticated information management system and selected Intergraph SmartPlant Foundation because the company determined that it is the most advanced and technically superior solution available in the market. SmartPlant Foundation will be used to develop EDIS, which will manage the engineering information of 33 offshore platforms for three of CNOOC's four oil fields, located in Tianjin, Shenzhen and Zhangjiang. SmartPlant Foundation's data-centric capabilities and single-source-of-information concept will support all of the company's requirements, including the management and implementation of engineering changes for enhanced safety, improved quality of data and increased productivity and efficiency.
SmartPlant Foundation is the leading, standards-based Capital Project Life Cycle Management (cPLM) solution for the process, power and marine industries. It has been selected as the information management and integration system of choice by more than 450 companies, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies and owner operators worldwide in projects both large and small. SmartPlant Foundation has the broadest solution footprint in the industry with capabilities that span the entire project life cycle, ranging from simple document management to configuration management in highly regulated industries. Its forte is the ability to manage massively interrelated, interdependent and rapidly evolving data that is the backbone of SmartPlant Enterprise, Intergraph's multi-discipline integrated engineering suite, as well as being the platform for integrated applications such as SmartPlant Construction and SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators.
"We are extremely confident that our EDIS project, built on SmartPlant Foundation, will be successful," said Mr. Jin Xiaojian, general manager of the Engineering & Construction department at CNOOC. "Intergraph has a highly experienced and knowledgeable SmartPlant Foundation implementation team in China to support our EDIS project, and we expect to expand this project in the future to include the rest of our existing offshore platforms."
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph's Process, Power & Marine president, said, "SmartPlant Foundation is the industry-standard solution for information management, ensuring secure access to engineering information of onshore and offshore assets whenever and wherever it is needed. CNOOC's selection of SmartPlant Foundation clearly validates its value as a proven, data-centric solution to manage tremendous amounts of data over the lifetime of a project and is well-suited for challenging, large-scale projects, such as the EDIS project for China's biggest offshore oil and gas producer."
The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analysis firm, ranked Intergraph the No. 1 overall engineering design 3D software and process engineering tools (PET) provider worldwide according to its PET Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast through 2013.
