China Mobile Selects ChinaSoft International for Display and Services Subsystem of Wireless City Centralized Operations Service Platform
BEIJING, Oct. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ChinaSoft International Limited ("ChinaSoft" or "the Company") (SEHK:354), a leading IT solutions and outsourcing service provider in China today announced that it was selected by China Mobile for two out of the five Operation Platform contracts in China Mobile's 2012 Wireless City Centralized Operations Services Platform Software Suites. ChinaSoft competed with a number of other peers for these highly coveted projects and was the only service provider winning more than one contract in China Mobile's Wireless City Operation Platform, further signifying that the cooperation between the two companies has progressed to a new level.
The Wireless City program is one of China Mobile's three main strategic gate-way portal programs at the current time. Wireless City is a One-Stop internet portal for local and regional government as well as private service providers for its citizens. The Wireless City platform provides a simple and direct connection between its users and the service providers to deliver valuable information and services to its citizens 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Examples of services that can be provided include: various municipal and utilities schedules and payments, government directives, traffic reports, and other Government to Consumer (G2C), Government to Business (G2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) services. As of 30 June, 2012, China Mobile has signed cooperation agreements with 248 cities and local governments in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and a total of 321 cities have launched Wireless City. Investment from China Mobile for the complete Wireless City program is estimated to be in billions of RMB with significant recurring operating revenue going forward. Main implementation is expected to last 3 to 4 years. In order to accelerate the pace of service implementation and realize centralized operation and management, China Mobile initiated the Wireless City Centralized Operations Services Platform program. The platform interface designs from this program will be rolled out to all provincial and city portals, thus making the platform a strategic and crucial element of the whole Wireless City project.
With end-to-end service capability and global delivery capability, ChinaSoft won two major Wireless City Centralized Operations Services Platform subprojects, including "Service subsystem" and "Display subsystem". When completed, China Mobile Wireless City will have unified and centralized management capability over the entire network services in all provinces and bases, through the Centralized Operations Services Platform developed with ChinaSoft. Meanwhile, the Centralized Display Platform will allow the operation and management of the system over Wireless City's multi-portal and multi-display modes for convenient and safe users access.
Through our active participation in the Wireless City program, ChinaSoft has become an important partner for China Mobile in its strategic plans for the future. The IT services business model is changing due to the evolution of information technologies like social networking, mobile communications, big data analytics and cloud computing. As part of its growth strategy set in 2011, ChinaSoft embraced the Professional, Outsourcing and Emerging (POE) structure. The Company will pursue growth in its traditional IT professional consulting & solutions business and outsourcing business while pushing into innovative and emerging technologies such as cloud computing and mobile communications. The Company believes that the POE structure will enable rapid growth as well as improve profitability in the coming years.
