VANCOUVER, June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - China Education Resources, Inc. ("CER") (TSXV: CHN) (OTCQX: CHNUF), a leading technology provider of online learning, training courses and social media for teachers, students and education professionals, is pleased to announce the conclusion of an exclusive arrangement to customize CER's leading School Platform (CER-SP) for Shanxi Province.
Further to CER's May 1, 2012 press release, the Company is pleased to announce that it has signed an exclusive agreement with the Teaching & Research Division of Shanxi Provincial Education Department to customize the Company's School Platform (CER-SP) for Shanxi Province. The Teaching & Research Division will organize academic experts and distinguished teachers in Shanxi Province to develop video and written content. This new digital content will be uploaded to the CER-SP and, together with CER's existing content (which includes 100,000 lesson plans and other comprehensive education resources), will be available to teachers and students for education reform in Shanxi Province. Education reform in Shanxi emphasizes interaction among teachers and students using digital education resources and multimedia equipment in classrooms. The Education Department of Shanxi Province has selected two counties for its initial pilot program and plans to follow it up by a provincial conference to recommend the school platform to all the schools in Shanxi Province in October 2012.
Shanxi Province is one of the leading provinces in the K to 12 education sector. Shanxi emphasizes a student-centered teaching philosophy and has been selected by China's Central Government to be the demo province for China's education digitization plan. Shanxi Province has more than 17,000 schools with 360,000 teachers and 5.7 million students.
"We are very pleased to reach this important milestone and we expect the Shanxi school platform will be an example of the high-growth potential of our products and business model in other provinces." said Chengfeng Zhou, CEO, China Education Resources. "CER has over one million teachers registered with our portal and been engaged by 14 provinces to provide online training for their teachers. Adding Shanxi, which is a large and important province, to our customer-base is further evidence of the successful commercialization of our leading edge products and services."
The Company has developed an unparalleled and broad portfolio of education products that it believes is unavailable in any other education market. It has been market tested and developed in the world's largest education market.
