Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota Welcomes RJF Agencies CEO Bill Jeatran to Board of Directors
MINNEAPOLIS and ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota today announced the appointment of Bill Jeatran to its board of directors. Jeatran is the Chief Executive Officer of RJF Agencies, a Minneapolis-based risk prevention and insurance brokerage firm. He has been recognized as one of the top entrepreneurs in Minnesota, and he brings a passion for corporate philanthropy to the Children's board.
"Bill's leadership and his ability to promote a culture of social responsibility within the workplace will be great assets to our board," said Alan L. Goldbloom, MD, president and CEO of Children's of Minnesota. "He understands what makes Children's unique, and he is committed to helping us reach out to the business community for support so we can continue to deliver extraordinary care."
Jeatran has a first-hand appreciation of the role Children's plays in the lives of families. The second of his three children was born with Strep B Meningitis, requiring extensive treatment at Children's. He says the experience gave him new perspective on what children and their parents go through when confronting disease and treatment.
"When you see the vulnerability of a one-day-old baby and the impact illness has on parents, it tugs at your heartstrings," said Jeatran. "That's why I, personally, and we, as a company, have made a commitment to focus on the health and development of youth, and we're proud that Children's has been a large part of that effort."
Jeatran says he hopes to inspire other companies to support Children's through the example set by his employees. In 2010 RJF launched its second-annual Charity Challenge with a goal of raising $100,000 for two charities, one of which was Children's of Minnesota. RJF employees and the insurance companies with which they work rallied around the effort both by raising money and by donating volunteer hours at the hospital. In the end, they exceeded their fundraising goal and Jeatran says the effort energized everyone who was involved.
RJF was awarded the 2009 Minnesota Business Ethics Award and in 2010 the Star Tribune named RJF a "Top Workplace" in the Twin Cities metro area.
