Adams, chair of the board of directors for Palm Beach County Early Learning Coalition and a former member of the board of Nonprofits First, takes the helm of Nonprofits First on September 1, replacing Pedro del Sol who resigned to pursue other interests. He led the agency since 2006.
"This is a thrilling opportunity for me to dedicate my time to the nonprofit sector after leading a successful Public Relations Agency for 27 years. I'm gratified to apply my business experience and knowledge of the nonprofit arena to this organization, especially at a time when economic challenges and a changing landscape make it crucial for nonprofits to be accountable and transparent. Nonprofits First is an organization that provides the tools and support they need to remain viable and strong," said Adams.
"Just as in the rest of the public and private sectors, Nonprofits First must be able to adapt to the times and meet the changing needs of the nonprofit sector, which is also struggling to do more with less. We want to continue to support them in those efforts," Montgomery said. "We thank Pedro for his years of service to this organization and the nonprofit community, and we look forward to the wealth of business experience and community involvement that Ms. Adams brings to Nonprofits First," he added.
Adams served for more than 15 years on the executive committee for Communities in Schools in Florida and on the board of directors of Florida TaxWatch. She has been chairman of the board of directors for the Children's Services Council of the Palm Beaches; chairman of the Higher Education Committee of the Economic Council of Palm Beach; and is a past president of the Child Advocacy Board of Palm Beach County, Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, and was a board member of the United Way of Palm Beach County. She founded MediaReach Public Relations in 1984 and is a 35-year-resident of Palm Beach County.
Nonprofits First was established six years ago by a coalition of public and private funders to promote quality and accountability in the nonprofit community through leadership development, education and management services.
