Chihuly Garden and Glass Invites Wine Connoisseurs to VineArts: A Celebration of Washington Wines, November 12, 2015
Seven local vintners will offer up wine tastings accompanied by food from Collections Cafe
SEATTLE, Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Chihuly Garden and Glass invites wine enthusiasts to VineArts, an evening of Washington wine tastings and local bites prepared by Chef Thomas Kollasch of Collections Café. The 3rd annual event, which kicks off at 6 p.m. in the Glasshouse, will feature wines from Baer Winery, Brian Carter Cellars, Charles Smith Wines, Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, Force Majeure Vineyards, Tranche Cellars and Ambassador Wines of Washington.
After touring the exhibition's galleries, guests will enter the Glasshouse where each vintner will present several offerings, one of which will be a Bordeaux-style blend. The Bordeaux tastings will be blind and, before evening's end, guests will cast a vote for their favorite. The winning vintner and wine will be revealed at the end of evening by event host, and master winemaker, Bob Betz. That winemaker will be awarded the People's Choice Award. The award, a beautiful hand-blown goblet, serves as a nod to one of the oldest forms in glass and was created by artist Richard Langly of Pratt Fine Arts Center, one of the exhibition's community partners.
Guests will also have the opportunity to join Paul Asikainen of Chateau Ste Michelle for an exclusive varietal component tasting of Chateau Ste Michelle's blends in the Arbor at Collections Café at 7 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
"VineArts has become a signature event for us that celebrates both the beautiful wines that come from our local vintners and our region's tradition of glass art," said Michelle Bufano, executive director of Chihuly Garden and Glass.
Following the naming of the People's Choice Award, Betz will host a brief Q&A with the vintners. Party goers can then continue to enjoy music provided by the Brian Nova Trio and meet the vintners.
A portion of event proceeds will be donated to support Washington State University's Viticulture and Enology Program. Tickets for VineArts are available now at http://www.chihulygardenandglass.com/events/vinearts.
