Chicago Urban League Thanks Cheryle Jackson for Her Transformative Leadership
CHICAGO, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Chicago Urban League board chairman Jim Reynolds issued the following statement in recognition of the leadership of president and CEO Cheryle R. Jackson who, today, announced her departure for a new position in the corporate sector:
"The Chicago Urban League board of directors, staff and constituents are thankful for the powerful leadership of Cheryle Jackson and wish her well in her next endeavor. During her tenure with the Chicago Urban League, Cheryle, in partnership with the board of directors, brought together a great team and led the transformation of the Urban League into a national example of economic empowerment for African Americans and other underserved communities.
"Cheryle's talent, energy, and style were a tremendous boost to the Chicago Urban League at a time when the board knew that we wanted to move the organization into a direction that focused more on economic development issues. She was the right leader at the right time and her contributions will have a lasting impact on the Chicago Urban League.
"With the departure of Cheryle Jackson, we have begun a search for our next president and CEO. Herman Brewer, our acting president and CEO, has done a tremendous job leading the Urban League since last September. He and the Chicago Urban League staff are unwavering in their commitment to improving the quality of our community through entrepreneurship, education, workforce diversity and development, housing and advocacy. We look forward to Herman's continued leadership as we move this venerable civil rights and economic empowerment organization forward."
