Chicago Magazine's Special Sports Issue
Inside the start of the greatest run in sports history
CHICAGO, March 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Exactly twenty years after the Chicago Bulls won their first of six championships, Chicago once again finds itself putting faith in a solid team led by a huge talent. In an upcoming commemorative sports issue, Chicago magazine takes a look back at the 1990-91 Chicago Bulls team, which launched the greatest run in Chicago sports history, and a look forward towards the player who could return the team to glory.
The April issue of Chicago magazine features a narrative of the Bulls' 1990-91 championship season, told exclusively through the recollections of those who were there—Jordan, Pippen, Cartwright, Paxson, and Krause, among others. The issue, which hits newsstands Thursday, March 17th, also includes an intimate look at the Bulls' humble new star, Derrick Rose, as he makes his case for MVP.
"This is an exciting time for the Chicago Bulls as they celebrate their past and future," says Richard Babcock, Chicago's editor. "We're elated that best-selling author Jonathan Eig, who starts a regular sports column for the magazine next month, provides a feature this month on how Derrick Rose has spectacularly raised his game."
The issue also features Where Are They Now, a look at what some former Chicago athletes have done with their lives after their playing days came to an end. Who says a cornerback can't become a dentist?
Elsewhere in the April issue of Chicago:
- Environment – For the fifth straight year, Chicago recognizes six locals who have made The Windy City a greener place. This year's honorees include a fashion designer, an architect, an activist, a city worker, and two restaurateurs.
- Style – This season's hottest trends are all in one place—The 900 Shops on Michigan Avenue. Plus, runway-worthy rain gear just in time for April showers.
Chicago editor Richard Babcock, managing editor Shane Tritsch, and other members of the magazine staff are available for on-air interviews about stories in the April issue. Contact Elizabeth Riley or Natalie Marquez at 312-832-6777 / 6765 to schedule an interview.
