Chicago Magazine Names City's Best Mexican Restaurants
A guide to the hottest cuisine in town
CHICAGO, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Nowhere is Chicago's Mexican influence more apparent than in the city's world of food. With a million-plus Mexican Americans living in the area, Chicago is one of the greatest places to enjoy Mexican cuisine. Highlighting this culinary scene, the latest issue of Chicago features the ultimate guide to navigating Chicago's Mexican food offerings—from Rick Bayless's well-known restaurant, Xoco, to Eusebio Garcia's lesser-known eatery, Amelia's Mestizo Grill.
The November issue features the city's top 12 Mexican restaurants and 30 must-eat dishes—all handpicked and researched by the magazine's dining experts. Plus, ten Mexican beverages of note, eight peppers to know (in order of heat), and dispatches from the Maxwell Street Market.
"Chicago may be the best place in America to explore the wide variety of regional dishes Mexico has to offer," says Jeff Ruby, the magazine's chief dining critic and main contributor to the article. "We covered a lot of ground to come up with the best restaurants, dishes, drinks, and more."
This month's issue also features Noah's Arc. In the past, Joakim Noah was a notorious goofball and aggravation to his teammates. But these days, this Bulls center-forward has redeemed himself with one of the most dramatic turnarounds in pro sports.
Elsewhere in the November issue of Chicago:
- Culture: Remember the UFO sightings at O'Hare? Or Daley's stunt at Miegs Field? As part of the magazine's upcoming anniversary, Chicago names the city's top 40 "Oh my God!" moments in recent history.
- Media: After a sometimes controversial run as White House social secretary, Desiree Rogers is back in Chicago to tackle a new challenge: reviving Johnson Publishing and its Ebony and Jet magazines.
Chicago editor Richard Babcock, managing editor Shane Tritsch, and other members of the magazine staff are available for on-air interviews about stories in the November issue. Contact Kate Mersman at 312-222-3165 to schedule an interview.
