Chicago Ideas Week Adds New Speakers to 2017 Lineup
Actor & Comedian Aasif Mandvi and Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Elaine Welteroth set to speak in Chicago October 16-22
CHICAGO, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Public tickets for the world's largest affordable ideas festival – Chicago Ideas Week (CIW) – are on sale now with most tickets offered at $15. The seventh annual program from October 16-22 will include 150 events on topics ranging from life's big questions to financial technology; foreign affairs to the future of football.
Added to the lineup are:
- Revolutionary Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Elaine Welteroth hosting "A Seat at the Table: Finding Equal Footing through Storytelling" with Uber Chief Brand Officer Bozoma Saint John and 2017 Emmy-winning writer Lena Waithe;
- Actor, Comedian and Writer Aasif Mandvi, and "Miracle on the Hudson" survivor and Red Ventures CEO Ric Elias at "Life's Big Questions";
- Fat Tiger Co-Founder Joe Freshgoods joining fashion innovator Dapper Dan, and Co-Founder & CEO of Super Heroic Jason Mayden at "From Catwalks to Pop-ups: How Streetwear Set the Pace for High Fashion;
- Film executive Charles D. King, the producer responsible for the upcoming film Mudbound and Academy Award-winning Fences at "Innovating from Within: When the Entrepreneurial Spirit Never Stops"; and
- Retired Chicago Bears Linebacker Otis Wilson and NBC's Peggy Kusinski joining neuropathologist Bennet Omalu, M.D., and NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp at "The Future of Football."

Chicago Ideas also released tickets to various social events during the week, including a free Official After Party; free Meet-ups in conjunction with The Field Museum to foster conversations between festival attendees; and the "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" series of events at top-tier local restaurants.
More than 30,000 attendees from Chicago, the Midwest and across the world are expected to attend Chicago Ideas Week. Onstage events will be hosted at the Harris Theatre, Venue Six10 and Morningstar, with hands-on Lab events hosted at dozens of venues throughout the city.
