Chicago Cultural Mile announces September's 2nd Fridays line-up
CHICAGO, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chicago Cultural Mile Association and its partnering cultural organizations and businesses announced their 2nd Fridays on the Chicago Cultural Mile September 12th line-up. The 2nd Fridays event will include the Chicago Cultural Center's Fall Open House which features art, music, tours and special events. The event is free and better yet, it will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue well into the evening. The Chicago Cultural Mile is Michigan Avenue from the river south to Roosevelt Road, extending eastward to the Museum Campus.
"The Chicago Cultural Mile is committed to bringing the area's business and cultural communities together by offering visitors free and sharply discounted entertainment, dining and activities. These 2nd Fridays events continue to raise awareness of the strengths of this unique area," according to J.R. Davis, Chairman and President of the Chicago Cultural Mile Association. "We are pleased to say that September's 2nd Fridays programming will provide a sampling of the selection of art, culture and fun that the Chicago Cultural Mile has to offer," he continued.
Chicago Cultural Mile Association Executive Director, Sharene Shariatzadeh, expressed excitement for the way that residents and visitors have supported the 2nd Fridays program. "There is a new energy on the Chicago Cultural Mile that is growing out of 2nd Fridays and I think the city, this neighborhood and its visitors will benefit greatly from that," she added.
Some of the other featured events and deals that are being offered on September 12th include:
Hostelling International will hold a Speakeasy Welcome Party from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Come in for a free beer or two, a chance to take a photo with Al Capone and an opportunity to mingle with travelers from around the world
Chicago Trolley & Double Decker is happy to offer a 20% discount on tour tickets during the 2nd Fridays promotion. Tickets must be purchased online. Enter the code "Friday" in order to redeem this offer.
Millennium Garages will offer $18 parking for 12 hours (normally $35). Vouchers will be available at 2nd Fridays partner locations.
