CHICAGO, May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Collegiate Charter School is proud to announce its selection as a member of the 2017 Invent Cohort at NewSchools Venture Fund.
Chicago Collegiate Charter School is one of 29 organizations in the 2017 investment group. Each cohort member is committed to launch a new, innovative school or instructional model designed to meet students where they are, help them succeed, and inspire them to create a brighter future. In addition to the funding, NewSchools will provide management assistance and create a community of practice for the cohort members.
Chicago Collegiate is excited to launch a primary grades component, starting with kindergarten in fall 2018. As a Level 1+ school in Roseland, the school families and community members of Chicago Collegiate are eager to have the school serve younger students.
The mission of Chicago Collegiate is to prepare all students for graduation from the college of their choice, and the New Schools Innovate Grant will help them explore ways to enhance their instructional model so that all students are prepared for college success.
"Our mission is to ensure 100% of our students graduate from the college of their choice. We know that college success is not just dependent on academics, but on one's ability to manage time, be independent and set goals. We are thrilled to work with New Schools Venture Fund to ensure we have an innovative and personalized model that pushes every student to their maximum potential, thereby ensuring the potential of the students of Roseland is unleashed," said Beth Carrera Napleton, Founder and Executive Director.
"Too many of today's schools were built for a different time and purpose," said Scott Benson, Managing Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund. "We believe schools can be reimagined to better prepare young people for the future. That's why NewSchools Invent is proud to invest in these teams of educators who are thinking boldly and creating new opportunities to set students up for success, regardless of where they're from."
