Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center Recognized By Colorado DOC For Outstanding Performance
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., Dec. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Community Education Centers, Inc. (CEC) announced today the Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center in Colorado Springs was recognized by the Colorado Department of Corrections for Outstanding Performance and Making a Difference. The facility's Case Manager LaKisha Parker was one of two Case Managers in the State to be recognized for her work done with the Sex Offender Registration Unit (SORU) for making a difference with the offender population. She was awarded with a certificate and a coin from the Department of Corrections Inspector General's Office on September 30, by representatives of the Colorado DOC.

In conjunction with the Colorado DOC Sex Offender Treatment Program, Cheyenne Mountain Re-Entry Center operates a Sex Offender Maintenance Unit. After completing Phase I and II of the CDOC Sex Offender Treatment Program, residents can progress to CMRC. The maintenance program at CMRC teaches residents to focus on what they learned in treatment, and transform it into practical applications to be used upon release. CMRC's maintenance program helps residents complete all of the criteria determined by the Sex Offender Management Board. CMRC also introduces the residents in the program to outside support groups designed to help stop recidivism and make for a successful transition from prison to parole.
CMRC functions as a "Positive Peer Community" culture dedicated to the education and preparation of residents transitioning to communities within the greater society. The facility is accredited with the American Correctional Association, having been awarded a perfect 100% rating on mandatory and non-mandatory standards. It accommodates a capacity of 750 males referred from the Colorado DOC.
