'Chevy100, An American Story' Premieres in Detroit
Documentary captures passion and pride people feel for Chevrolet
DETROIT, Nov. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "Chevy100, An American Story," a new documentary by Roger Sherman, will premiere November 3 at the historic Detroit Institute of Arts in downtown Detroit.
The feature-length documentary by the award-winning producer, director and cinematographer explores the 100-year history of Chevrolet and Chevy's cultural and personal relevance for millions.
"For over thirty years, I've been attracted to telling the stories of real people," said Sherman. "I try to find subjects who are passionate about their endeavors. We had the opportunity to travel all over the country filming incredible cars, meeting wonderful people, and hearing amazing personal stories about people's love for their Chevrolets."
The film features drivers, collectors, restorers, racers and journalists who live and breathe cars and trucks. It traces Chevrolet history to 1911, when Swiss-American race driver Louis Chevrolet and American entrepreneur Billy Durant teamed up to create a new car company, and follows Chevrolet to the current time, when it has become one of the fastest-growing global automotive brands.
"Chevrolet is rooted in American values that are shared by many people around the world, such as an appreciation for expressive cars and trucks and a love of the freedom of the open road," said Chris Perry, vice president, global marketing and strategy for Chevrolet.
"'Chevy100, An American Story' is an entertaining look at the people and passions that have made Chevrolet an iconic American brand and are fueling Chevrolet's global growth as it enters its second century."
Sherman has won an Emmy and a Peabody, and received two Academy Award nominations. His previous films include "Medal of Honor," "Alexander Calder," and "Richard Rogers: The Sweetest Sounds."
Following the Detroit premiere and a New York premiere at Time Warner headquarters on November 14, "Chevy100" will be shown on Velocity Channel on November 21st at 8 p.m. EST. DVDs of the film will be available starting on the 21st at ChevyMall.com.
