Chevrolet Congratulates Cobalt Baby's Family with Child Safety Seats and a Year's Supply of Diapers
Mother gives birth while driving her 2005 Chevy Cobalt to the hospital
DETROIT, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Earlier this week in Minnesota, Chevrolet was pleased to learn that the newest member of the Chevy family – a healthy 8-pound newborn named Joseph – was miraculously delivered while his mother Amanda McBride was driving her Chevy Cobalt to the hospital.
Amazingly, the boy's father, Joseph Phillips, unable to drive because of a medical condition, was able to steer the Cobalt to safety from the passenger seat as Amanda gave birth behind the wheel. To celebrate this incredible delivery, Chevy will provide Amanda McBride and her family with:
- A one-year supply of diapers (to avoid any other unexpected deliveries in the car)
- Two child safety seats
- A stroller
- Numerous other supplies (bottles, formula, toys, etc.)
"We knew the Cobalt was designed to deliver its occupants safely, but never did we expect a delivery quite like this," said Margaret Brooks, Chevrolet product marketing director, Small Cars and Crossovers. "From everyone at Chevrolet, we'd like to congratulate Amanda and Joseph on the newest addition to their family. Unfortunately, there is no section in the Cobalt driver's manual on 'How to Change a Diaper,' but we're sure they'll do just fine."
