Chesapeake Urology Physician Dr. Marc H. Siegelbaum Named to New U.S. News Top Doctors National Listing
OWINGS MILLS, Md., Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. News & World Report recently released a list of the 'Top Doctors' in the country through a free searchable directory at www.usnews.com/top-doctors that includes nearly 30,000 peer-nominated physicians nationwide.
Chesapeake Urology Associates, one of the largest urology groups in the country, is proud to announce that one of its partners, Marc H. Siegelbaum, MD, was named to the U.S. News Top Doctors list. Dr. Siegelbaum, who is the chief of urology at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Maryland, is recognized as a leader in da Vinci robotic prostate surgery. Along with his colleague and partner, Dr. Daniel Dietrick, Dr. Siegelbaum was the first physician to perform a da Vinci prostatectomy at a community hospital in Maryland, and he has performed more than 400 da Vinci surgeries to date. In addition to being a prostate cancer specialist, he provides a full service urology practice. His other special interests include laparoscopic kidney, pediatric urology, penile implants and incontinence prosthetics.
U.S. News Top Doctors was created in collaboration with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. Publisher of America's Top Doctors and other consumer health guides. It draws from Castle Connolly's database of Top Doctors, all recommended for their clinical skills by other doctors and individually vetted by a physician-led research team.
U.S. News Top Doctors builds on the highly regarded U.S. News Best Hospital rankings. "For decades, the Best Hospitals rankings have helped guide patients..." said Avery Comarow, U.S. News health rankings editor. "Top Doctors has a similar mission. We want to help consumers find the doctors in their area who come highly recommended by other physicians."
Castle Connolly assembled the Top Doctors roster by soliciting nominations from physicians in academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, regional hospitals and physicians in private practice. Its research team reviewed each nominee's training, achievements, appointments and other credentials.
"We believe this brings important information on excellent physicians directly into the hands of consumers," said Dr. John J. Connolly, president and CEO of Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. "Given the unsettled future of the delivery and financing of healthcare and the changing nature of physician practices, it is critical that consumers have trusted sources of high quality about both doctors and hospitals."
Dr. Siegelbaum's office is located in the O'Dea Medical Building, Suite 506, 7505 Osler Drive in Towson, Maryland. He may be contacted at 410-296-0167.
