OWINGS MILLS, Md., Nov. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Chesapeake Urology, the largest urology practice in the Mid-Atlantic region and one of the leading practices in the nation, recently named urologist Daniel Dietrick, M.D., Chief Value Officer (CVO).
According to Chesapeake Urology CEO Sanford Siegel, M.D., "This newly created senior position is unique among urology groups in the nation, and one that is critical in transitioning Chesapeake Urology from volume-based to value-based healthcare."
The role of Chief Value Officer was developed to oversee patient safety and healthcare quality. As the new CVO of Chesapeake Urology, Dr. Dietrick will execute on the overall clinical vision and strategy of the organization, maintaining professional and quality control standards, and creating and overseeing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in Chesapeake Urology's offices and Summit Ambulatory Surgical Centers. Dr. Dietrick will work to develop new and innovative clinical programs, as well as policies and procedures that produce high quality, cost effective, medical care with measurable outcomes.

As CVO, Dr. Dietrick also will also oversee the directors of Chesapeake Urology's medical service lines and the programs they manage in an effort to demonstrate clinical outcomes to governmental agencies and payors, and to manage healthcare costs. These programs include: Prostate cancer; kidney stone disease; enlarged prostate/BPH; erectile dysfunction; and voiding dysfunction and overactive bladder.

During his time at the hospital, he also served as the Interim Vice President of Medical Affairs, the Interim Medical Director of the Heart Institute, Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff and is currently President-Elect of the Medical Staff. In his various roles, he established many effective quality improvement, peer review, patient safety, and operating room efficiency policies and processes which have benefited the Medical Center along with its patients.
