Chengdu Wins Several Convention and Exhibition Awards
CHENGDU, China, Dec. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- China's Chengdu scooped up four awards at the 2013 China Convention and Exhibition Seminar, which closed on December 15. The city was named as one of the China's 10 Best Brand Convention and Exhibition Cities in 2013. Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition & Convention Center received the honors as one of the China's 10 Best Brand Convention and Exhibition Centers in 2013. International Furniture Fair Chengdu was named as one of the China's 10 Best Brand Convention and Exhibition Programs in 2013. LinkShare P.R. (LSPR) Inc. and E&S were among China's 10 Best Brand Exhibition Engineering (Services) Companies in 2013.
The 2013 China Convention and Exhibition Seminar was organized by China Convention & Exhibition Society. China Convention & Exhibition Society, a group under the aegis of China's Ministry of Commerce, is the only national convention and exhibition organization in China that has been approved by the State Council.
On the same day, Chengdu was again named an Excellent Convention and Exhibition City at the 2013 Golden Five-Star Awards event in Beijing. In addition, the city had been crowned the Most Popular International Conference Destination in 2013 at the 6th China Meetings Industry Convention earlier in the same month. This reaffirms the rapid development of Chengdu's convention and exhibition industry and consolidates the city's position not only as one of the top convention and exhibition sites across the country, but also the largest convention and exhibition venue as well as the city of choice for hosting major national and international conventions and exhibitions in central and western China.
In 2013, Chengdu's convention and exhibition industry has received widespread attention from the industry and beyond for its strong track record. This year's main events in Chengdu include the 2013 Fortune Global Forum, the 12th World Chinese Entrepreneur Convention, the 14th Western China International Fair, the 21st International Conference on Nuclear Engineering, the 35th IAHR World Congress, the 2013 PATA Travel Mart, the 8th EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair, the 65th China Education Equipment Exhibition and the 15th China Chain Store Industry Conference and Exhibition. According to available data, between January and November 2013, Chengdu hosted 47 international exhibitions, up 27 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year, with the combined exhibition area of the events rising 28.4 percent year-over-year to 484,000 square meters. The city hosted 97 international conferences and forums in the first eleven months of this year, reflecting an increase of 24 events, or 29.3 percent, compared to the prior-year period.
