Cheer® Gives Aspiring Actress Her Dream Walk-On Role on CBS's 'As the World Turns'
Cheer's Popular Brighten Bay Soap Campaign Finds the Next Bright Star Through Talent Audition
CINCINNATI, Aug. 25, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) is proud to announce California native Jennifer Jean as the winner of "Brighten Bay Idol," an online talent search for the next bright star! The talent search, kicked off in January, invited aspiring actors to log on to BrightenBay.com to send in their audition tapes for an opportunity to win a walk-on role on the popular CBS soap series, "As the World Turns." Jennifer was named the lucky audition winner when she "wow-ed" voters with her amazing talent. After beating out the competition and becoming the next bright spot in a dingy world, Jennifer will now have a guest-starring appearance in one of the final episodes of "As the World Turns" later this summer.

"Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that my favorite detergent brand, Cheer, would help catapult my acting career," said Jennifer. "But starring in one of the final episodes of 'As the World Turns' is definitely going to be a turning point for me. I'm so grateful to all of the voters who chose my audition tape and can't thank Cheer and 'Brighten Bay Idol' enough! I am, without a doubt, on my way to becoming the next sparkling star!"
A former schoolteacher, Jennifer got her start in acting after her husband signed her up for her first adult acting class. Since then, she's starred in a national television commercial, an independent film and onstage in countless improv and sketch shows. She is also currently starring in a hit interactive show in Los Angeles. Now, with the recent news that "As the World Turns" will be ending its longtime run in September 2010, Jennifer is excited to take advantage of the rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become part of soap history by joining the cast during its last season. She will star in the August 30th episode, airing on CBS, as Nurse Greta.
Along with filming for one of the final episodes, Jennifer also won a trip to New York City and received an exclusive, behind-the scenes tour of the "As the World Turns" set.
"We were all blown away by Jennifer's performance and are excited to help develop her acting career," said Tara Murphy, Cheer brand manager. "Brighten Bay's Idol search was a fun audition that allowed us to provide aspiring actors with a forum to reach for their dreams. We aim to help people truly 'sparkle,' particularly through the bright clean benefit Cheer provides for clothing, and now with the opportunity to be a part of history during the final season of 'As the World Turns'."
The audition was part of the "Brighten Bay" Cheer soap campaign, created to brighten laundry routines and also communicate the affordable price for Cheer. The campaign, which was inspired by daytime dramas, featured storylines and webisodes set in Brighten Bay, a colorful community with ongoing drama between its neighbors.
