CheapAir.com Wins 5th Magellan Award From Travel Weekly
2017 Magellan Awards recognize CheapAir.com's easy-to-use web site for second consecutive year
CALABASAS, Calif., Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CheapAir.com today announced that the online travel agency won its fifth Magellan Award from Travel Weekly, the most influential B2B news resource for the travel industry. The judges named CheapAir.com's booking interface a Silver Winner for the second consecutive year.
"Airlines have made big changes to how they sell their seats and it's become increasingly difficult to make sure you're comparing apples to apples," said Jeff Klee, CEO of CheapAir.com. "We made some enhancements to our flight search that makes it really easy to compare, not just the prices of different flights, but also the restrictions, bag fees, seats, WiFi, and in-flight entertainment options. We're honored that Travel Weekly has recognized our efforts to make the booking experience transparent."
CheapAir.com's booking interface earned recognition this year for becoming the first to distinguish among basic economy, premium economy, and other fare classes. Users can now see prices for each class along with their stipulations for carry-on baggage, refunds, flight changes, and seat assignments. By making the benefits and conditions transparent, CheapAir.com's booking interface helps travelers choose the right ticket.
To date, CheapAir.com has won five Magellan Awards. The CheapAir.com Blog, a 2016 Silver Winner, has become renowned for sharing original travel data, insider tips, and money-saving tools found nowhere else. Traveler favorites include the Holiday Cheap Flights Report, Annual Airfare Study, and the first-of-its-kind When to Buy Flights widget.
Last year, CheapAir.com's desktop and mobile websites won over the judges with a redesigned booking interface. It introduced one-click upgrades for JetBlue and Virgin America flights as well as cabin images for both airlines. The new booking experience also included the world's first monthly payment plans for flights. Since then, CheapAir.com's 3-, 6-, and 12-month plans have helped thousands of travelers book now and pay later.
In 2013, CheapAir.com's mobile app was named a Magellan Gold Winner for its voice-activated flight search app, also an industry first. The app translates spoken words into search queries using proprietary semantic language technology developed at CheapAir.com.
The Travel Weekly Magellan Awards honors the best in travel and salutes the outstanding travel professionals behind it all. CheapAir.com and fellow winners will be featured in an issue of Travel Weekly in October.
