Lt. Col. Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch (ret.) to receive CHCI's Highest Honor at 35th Anniversary Awards Gala on September 13
WASHINGTON, June 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is proud to announce that Lt. Col. "To be recognized for your servant leadership by such a prestigious cadre of leaders such as my CHCI colleagues truly translates as a blessing and serves as testament that as long as we serve our Pueblo first, all other things of importance will come in due time," remarked Kickbusch upon hearing of the CHCI honor.
Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, Kickbusch entered the U.S. Army as an officer after graduating from Simmons University. During her twenty years of service, she broke barriers and set records in the U.S. military by earning the distinction of highest-ranking Hispanic woman in the Combat Support Field of the U.S. Army. Upon her retirement, she honored her mother's dying wish and became an engaged community leader, founding the human development company, Educational Achievement Services, Inc. (EAS, Inc.), in 1996. Throughout her career, Kickbusch has shared her personal knowledge on how to become an effective leader in today's global marketplace with hundreds of schools, corporations, and government institutions both in the United States and abroad.
"Consuelo is living proof of the American Dream," said Esther Aguilera, CHCI President & CEO. "Her unwavering tenacity and unfaltering commitment to the community especially in education attainment are just some of the many outstanding qualities making her an ideal candidate for this CHCI honor. We are proud to recognize her contribution to the community and our nation during our 35th Anniversary Awards Gala."
CHCI's Annual Awards Gala is the signature event in CHCI's Hispanic Heritage Month Events that include the Public Policy Conference and Reyes of Comedy. It also launches the national celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which is observed from September 15 through October 15.
2012 marks the 35th Anniversary Awards Gala and will convene the nation's largest and most prestigious gathering of Hispanic nonpartisan, public, and private sector leaders at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on September 13. The evening's festivities will honor CHCI's past, present, and future through entertainment, remarks by figures of national prominence, and recognition of CHCI's highest honors—the annual Chair's Award and the CHCI Medallion of Excellence awardees. These awards highlight the many rich contributions made by Latinos who have not only succeeded in their individual careers, but who also serve as positive role models and empower Latino youth to believe that anything is achievable through higher education, hard work, and pursuit of the American Dream. All events support CHCI's educational attainment and leadership development programs. Learn more at www.chci.org/2012HHM.
