PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of its 10th year of supporting charter schools across the country, Charter School Capital, the nation's leading provider of growth capital and facilities financing to charter schools, has launched Stories of Inspiration, an initiative inviting people young and old to share their personal stories of how teachers changed the trajectory of their lives.
For Charter School Capital President and CEO, Stuart Ellis, that teacher was Richard Dewey (see Stuart's story here). Stories of Inspiration was launched in honor of Dewey, a retired 3rd grade teacher from Welby Way Elementary School in Los Angeles Unified School District.
"Everyone has a special teacher in their life who helped them become who they are today," said Ellis. "Our debt to teachers is immeasurable, and at Charter School Capital we are happy to somehow pay tribute to educators for their indelible impact on our society."
Here's how Stories of Inspiration works: Participants share the story of their inspiring teacher in an essay of up to 1,000 words, to be submitted via the form at this link by October 31, 2017. A review committee made up of charter school operators will select the 10 most inspiring stories, and announce these stories after November 17, 2017. Charter School Capital will share these Stories of Inspiration and donate a total of $10,000 in school grants – $1,000 to 10 different charter schools. The authors of the selected essays will choose the charter schools of their choice to receive the donated funds.
