Chartboost Names Chung-Man Tam as Chief Product Officer
Network Expands to Over 32,000 Mobile Games Just Two Years After Launch
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Chartboost – the business engine for mobile game developers around the world – today announced that it has hired Chung-Man Tam to serve as Chief Product Officer. Developers have integrated Chartboost technology into over 32,000 mobile games to cross promote their titles, negotiate deals directly with other developers, and acquire new users throughout the network.
Tam joins Chartboost with first hand experience of the challenges of mobile distribution and monetization as both an app developer and game developer. Most recently he co-founded Qwilt Software, developer of an app that helps to automatically organize your mobile photos into stories. Previously, Tam led product development at Booyah and held senior product leadership roles at Google and AdMob, where he was responsible for all advertiser products.
"Chartboost is a proven leader solving the distribution and discovery problem that developers face today," said Tam. "I'm excited to help develop the next set of platform tools that empower developers to leverage data to make better decisions and build thriving businesses."
"We're in a period of incredible growth for both Chartboost and the gaming industry," said Maria Alegre, co-founder and CEO. "Chung-Man's product leadership experience in mobile and gaming companies combined with his passion for entrepreneurial ventures make him an ideal person to help lead our product efforts. I'm thrilled to have him on board."
Less than two years after launching publicly in October 2011, Chartboost has rapidly emerged as the platform leader in the mobile gaming space. In the last six months, the number of active games in the Chartboost network has doubled from 16,000 to over 32,000 games and the number of monthly sessions has increased 50% from 8 billion to 12 billion. Chartboost currently has 90 employees, up from 30 at the beginning of 2013.
The company recently launched the beta of its Store product (www.chartboost.com/store), a backend service to help developers increase revenue from in-app purchases, and Direct Deals Groups (www.chartboost.com/platform#direct-deals), an extension of the Direct Deals Marketplace that enables developers to create and manage their own networks.
