Charlotte, NC Custom Builder Lands Cover of National Better Homes and Gardens
CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- New Old LLC, a Charlotte, NC area luxury custom home builder, was awarded the front cover of Better Homes and Gardens, Kitchen and Bath Design edition for their budget friendly yet upscale kitchen remodel. New Old was chosen by the editors of the home and lifestyle expert magazine based on the quality of materials, craftsmanship and smart use of storage in the remodel.
New Old caught the attention of Better Homes and Gardens by transforming a builder basic oak kitchen into a cottage retreat by incorporating custom upgrades such as new cabinets, heart-pine wood plank range hood, honed carrera marble countertops, and a custom build furniture style island with a walnut stained butcher block top.
"Having our work recognized and rewarded by the experts at Better Homes and Gardens is so exciting! We are thrilled to be able to share a piece of our passion with so many current and future homeowners," said Mary Ludemann of New Old.
Ludemann said that one of her favorite features of the kitchen was the smart use of storage in this small footprint. She replaced a small, cramped pantry with a recessed one hidden behind a sliding barn door message center. Roughly 11 inches deep, the pantry shelves are large enough to house cereal boxes and small appliances. She also added a slender wine cabinet beside of the refrigerator to maximize the use of space.
