CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is accepting applications for the police trainee process from now through July 15 (www.cmpd.org/apply). Applications are also being accepted for the lateral process from both in-state and out-of-state police officers interested in transferring to CMPD.
Recruiters will be on hand to answer questions live Monday, July 2, at 2 p.m. on Facebook Live at https://www.facebook.com/CMPDnews/.
"We have nearly 40 recruits going through the academy now, and we want those numbers to continue growing," CMPD Chief Kerr Putney said. "We are looking for the best who truly want to serve and be the difference in their community."
CMPD provides officers with competitive pay starting at $44,362. Training officers have the opportunity to earn up to $82,192 with a four-year college degree and applicable secondary language experience (Spanish, Vietnamese or Laotian). Depending on their years of qualified service and education, lateral transfers may start as high as $65,433.
