Charles McCurdy Joins InGo's Board
Former Canon Communications and GLM CEO, Director, Vice Chairman of Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO), to provide unparalleled guidance to rapidly growing InGo.
ARLINGTON, Va., May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- InGo CEO, Michael Barnett, announced that Charles McCurdy has joined InGo's Board of Directors, effective immediately.
McCurdy is an Events Industry veteran with a long track record of success in the media industry. He grew and, in 2010 sold, Canon Communications to UBM. He next linked up with Providence Equity Partners to purchase GLM and grew it into a leading, innovative b2b events group, which sold Emerald Expositions, formerly Nielsen Events, in 2014.
"By joining InGo's Board, Mr. McCurdy brings a cutting-edge vision for the Professional Events industry to our company," said Barnett. "This will certainly help InGo to reach even greater heights."
McCurdy joins InGo's Board of Directors just as the company has succeeded in growing events for the top organizers in the industry. Recent successes include: Reed Expo's Vision Expo East, Hanley Wood's GreenBuild Expo, Emerald Expositions' Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, UBM's Food Ingredients Europe and May Design Series, Diversified Business Communications' Recruiting Trends Conference, Clarion Events' ICE Exhibition, and GLM's International Contemporary Furniture Fair.
"By joining the Board, I hope to bring valuable insights regarding the current state of the industry to work with InGo to continue to dramatically grow leading events around the world," said McCurdy. "InGo's leadership has quickly established this company as the premier Social Marketing platform and Big Data solution for the Events industry."
McCurdy also has served as Chairman of the Board of American Business Media, the association of business-to-business media and information companies. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO), the association of for-profit trade show organizers, and sits on the boards of Cygnus Business Media and Summit Professional Networks. He previously served on the board of Globalspec and was President of Primedia from 1989 to 2003. He received his MBA from Columbia with honors and his BA from Yale, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
