Veteran community banker and public company director joins Board of growing Tysons Corner bank
TYSONS CORNER, Va., Sept. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Old Dominion National Bank announced that Charles C. Pearson, Jr. joined its board of directors, effective immediately. The growing Northern Virginia bank with executive offices in Tysons Corner now has nine directors serving on its Board.

Pearson brings deep commercial banking experience to Old Dominion's Board. Prior to his retirement in 2005, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Harris Savings Bank and its successor Waypoint Financial Corp., guiding the NASDAQ-listed financial institution with more than $5 billion in assets through its merger with Sovereign Bank. Before joining Harris Savings Bank, Pearson worked for PNC Financial Services for four years, having joined in 1994 following the sale of United Federal Bank, where he had served as President of since 1988. During his nearly 40-year career, he also worked for Mellon Bank, Commonwealth National Bank, Hamilton Bank and Philadelphia National Bank, where he began his banking career.
In addition, Pearson served on the Graystone Bank and Tower Bancorp, Inc. Board of Directors from 2007 to 2012, including as its Lead Director and Chairman of its Governance Committee, and was a member of the Federal Reserve Bank's Thrift Advisory Council. He also is a Trustee Emeritus of Juniata College and a member of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association.

Active in the community, the Mechanicsburg, Pa. resident has volunteered with numerous nonprofit and business organizations, including WITF Public Broadcasting, the Harrisburg and Mainline YMCAs, the Hershey Medical Center, the State College Chamber of Commerce, Pennsylvania Centre Stage, and the Greater Harrisburg United Way.
Pearson served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on board a destroyer in the Pacific Fleet. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School.
