Charity Trumps Wager: Archbishop Cupich Sends Chicago Deep Dish Pizza to Tampa Bay

WHAT:

Even though the Blackhawks clinched the Stanley Cup Monday night, the Archbishop of Chicago will send Chicago deep dish pizza to a Florida shelter operated by Catholic Charities. Lou Malnati's, donor of the pizza will also provide pizza to St. Leo's residence, the Catholic Charities ministry to veterans in Chicago that will receive grapefruit from Bishop Robert Lynch Diocese of St. Petersburg, home Catholic diocese for the Tampa Bay Lightning, as part of the Catholic leaders' championship wager.

Key points of the pizza donation include the following:

• The Archdiocese of Chicago will deliver Chicago deep dish pizza to feed the 300 guests of Pinellas Hope, a shelter for homeless individuals in Clearwater, Florida the recipient designated by Bishop Lynch in the Stanley Cup wager.
• The Diocese of St. Petersburg will ship cases of Florida grapefruit to St. Leo's Residence for Veterans, a Chicago Catholic Charities ministry, located in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
• The residents of St. Leo's will also receive pizza as part of the Stanley Cup celebration.
• The pizza and transportation will be donated by Lou Malnati's Pizzeria.
