The company honored Ward for his winning performance in the Single-Single class with a special ceremony at its Hamilton service center. During the ceremony, he was presented with a personalized Con-way Freight tractor for his exclusive use over the next year, and a new, also personalized, Ford pickup truck for his achievement.

Ward joined Con-way Freight in 2004. Since then, he has participated in the national competition twice. This year, he was also the Ontario provincial winner in the Single-Single division. He has worked as a professional driver for more than 25 years.
The 2013 Canadian National Professional Truck Driving Championships consists of a written test, pre-trip inspection exam and driving test to assess the professionalism, skill and safety knowledge of Canada's professional drivers. To compete, drivers must have no preventable accidents in the 12 months prior to the championships. This year 33 provincial champions competed in five separate competition classes including: Straight Trucks, Single-Single, Single-Tandem, Tandem-Tandem, and Super B-train.
